Nature Life

Crete, being at the crossroads of three continents, Europe, Africa and Asia, offers very special nature and dramatic contrasts. Three major mountain ranges, namely the White Mountains “Lefka Ori” in the West, “Psiloritis” in the centre and “Ori Dikti” in the East. About 100 mountain peaks over 2,000m reside in Crete. The highest peak being “Mount Ida” a.k.a “Timios Stavros” (2,456m) belonging to Mount Psiloritis. Crete also accommodates around 400 gorges (more than the rest of Greece has in total!), traversing the mountain ranges and around 600 beaches of all sorts. Moreover Crete is the home of around 160 endemic plant species.

It comes as no surprise that Cretans have a special connection to nature which shapes their identity. This connection helps them maintain a physical and mental balance and results in a happy and healthy life.

Here we will talk about encounters with nature and how they make us feel and how they impact our life perspectives.
